We have offices in New York, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Minnesota, London, and Gurgaon. We welcome you to work in any of our offices, but you also have the opportunity to work from home.

About the role:

Reporting into the Manager of Production Services, the Editorial Production Coordinator will be responsible for the overall technical production tasks as they relate to print and multimedia platforms. This person will work closely with the art teams and our external pre-media vendor to ensure the best image and color quality for all channels, as well as, performing various production related tasks while ensuring on-time delivery. This position requires the individual to balance and shift priorities to work efficiently across multiple teams in a fast-paced environment.

About you:

You have an eye for color and a strong understanding of the differences between the print and digital process with proficiency in both. You work well with production schedules and can prioritize under pressure, changing direction efficiently. You’ll work with the art directors to bring their vision to fruition but become efficient in knowing different Brand preferences in imagery. An eye for detail separates you from the rest.

Your day-day: (aka Responsibilities)

  • Color mark-up, color correction and image manipulation
  • Work closely with our pre-media vendor to ensure color mark-up processes are efficient and deadlines are met
  • Use Prepare system to upload, approve and download images that meet our quality requirements
  • Create Flatplans for the Prepare system and handle Insite approvals for print publications - This includes reading templates for covers from printer
  • Manage book reprint process - Recreating covers and body pages to fit within new template files - Analyze process to achieve efficiencies
  • Collect and distribute files for epubs - Utilize vendor tools and work with production managers on ad replacements
  • Adhere to company’s “Best Practices” to accurately manage the archival of files
  • Perform routine calibrations on soft proofing equipment
  • Create UPC and ISBN bar codes
  • Additional production tasks, as need, to assist the creative teams and facilitate production

You have:

  • College degree in graphic arts or equivalent job experience
  • Five or more years in graphic design field
  • Color retouching and image manipulation experience a must
  • Advanced knowledge using Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator in a Mac environment
  • Excellent technical skills and ability to learn new workflow production tools
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple projects concurrently in order to meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate and build strong relationships on various levels with internal partners
  • Proven ability to be successful in a complex, fast-paced environment, requiring the ability to both lead and adapt to change
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
